How to Get Your CMCP

1. Meet Eligibility Requirements
Combination of education and experience: Four-year degree and 1 year of property management experience; or Two-year degree and 2 years of property management experience; or No degree and 4 years
of property management experience AND
30 hours of verifiable continuing education, training or professional development in commercial property management: This continuing education and training may come from any commercial real estate industry source, and may include past training and coursework. See Exam Information and Resources for details on what type of training qualifies.
2. Prepare for the Exam
CMCP applicants must demonstrate that they have completed at least 30 hours of verifiable professional development related to property management. If your most recent continuing education or training was more than 3 years ago, you should consider refreshing
your professional development.
The CMCP™ Exam Prep Course, developed by BOMA and BOMI, can help you prepare for the exam and meet the requirement for 30 hours of professional development. The CMCP™ Exam Preparation materials are available in BOMI’s Learning Portal delivered through
the Online Self-Paced (OSP) learning experience. The course is $495 and includes a 200-page handbook, videos, practice exams, and more. Sign up and learn more here.
3. Apply Online
Each candidate must complete a CMCP application at www.creci.org before you can be approved to sit for the examination. The CMCP application fee is $675 and includes the fee to take the exam. Candidates must also submit program completion certificates for all listed professional development
courses, and if applicable, provide a copy of a two or four-year college diploma or complete the transcript request form. Once an application is completed and submitted along with payment, the approval process can take up to 10 business days.
4. Schedule Your Exam
Once approved as a candidate, you will receive information on scheduling your exam, administered by Pearson VUE at one of their testing centers. You must take the exam within 180 days of the date your application is approved.
CRECI is pleased to announce a new option to complete your CMCP exam without needing to visit a testing center! We will be offering an online proctored testing experience through Pearson VUE’s OnVUE platform. This platform allows
for 24/7 testing opportunities from your home or office using your own computer and internet connection. For more information, go to www.pearsonvue.com/creci/onvue.
5. Take the CMCP Exam
The CMCP examination is comprised of 125 multiple-choice questions, of which 100 questions are scored and 25 questions are considered pretest. (Pretest questions are unscored questions and do not affect the score.) The examination is
strictly pass/fail based on the number of correct answers. Candidates have 2.25 hours to complete the CMCP examination.
6. Receive Results and Obtain Certification
Candidates may be notified immediately regarding pass/fail status upon completion of the examination. The web-based score report should be available for the candidate in their Pearson VUE portal within 24 hours following completion of the examination.
Candidates who have met all requirements for certification should receive their official CMCP certificate within 4-6 weeks after passing the examination.
