Who We Are

Houston Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) is the premier network of more than 600 commercial real estate professionals representing more than one hundred million square feet of commercial real estate in the Houston area.

The Mission & Vision of Houston BOMA is to support and advance the interests of the commercial real estate industry.

We are a federated member of BOMA International which was founded in 1907 as the National Association of Building Owners and Managers. The association assumed its present name in 1968 as it broadened its reach to include Canada and other affiliates around the globe. Today, BOMA International represents 91 local associations throughout the United States and ten affiliates in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines and South Africa. BOMA's 18,000-plus members own or manage more than nine billion square feet of commercial properties in the United States.

BOMA International is a primary source of information on office building development, leasing, building operating costs, energy consumption patterns, local and national building codes, legislation, occupancy statistics and technological developments.

Throughout BOMA International's long history, its goal has always focused on actively and responsibly representing and promoting the interests of the commercial real estate industry through effective leadership and advocacy, through the collection, analysis and dissemination of information, and through professional development.

Houston BOMA provides a network forum for industry professionals to discuss mutual problems, exchange ideas and share experience and knowledge.

Houston BOMA offers comprehensive industry research and office building performance data and publications, products, and services to assist the owners and managers of commercial office space to become more expert, professional and accomplished in creating better tenant environments and more stable investments for world capital.

Houston BOMA's government affairs and codes representation addresses the needs and interests of office building owners, investors, developers, and managers to national, state, provincial and local legislators.

Houston BOMA's awards program recognizes excellence in building management, operational efficiency, tenant retention, emergency planning and community impact. Houston BOMA pays homage to the buildings it represents, to the individuals it serves and to its Federated Associations through the Office Building of the Year "TOBY" Award. This comprehensive program recognizes quality in office buildings and awards excellence in office building management.

Houston BOMA is also extremely involved in the community, donating over $1 million dollars and donations to the children of Harris County Children’s Protective Services, and thousands to the Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston.
