Committees
Houston BOMA is moving in a new direction that takes us away from traditional “committees.” We’re still looking for members to volunteer, but we would much rather know what skills and hidden talents our members have to offer so that we can offer a more rewarding experience. We are doing away with the traditional committees and instead are seeking out the skills you have and giving you an opportunity to better utilize them.
The result will be to match your talents and interests with the needs of BOMA so that you are engaged in a meaningful and experiential way. Some of the needs are one-time on-site at one of our meetings or events while some may be longer term and can be done anywhere, anytime no matter your location.
These new work/talent groups will replace many of the traditional committees and will serve “as needed” as projects arise. Depending on the need, you could be contacted in four weeks, or eight months.
How it works:
1. Become Engaged! Fill out the form listing your skills and areas of expertise that you want to share. If you don’t fill it out, you will miss out on the chance to get involved.
2. Share your skills! When a need arises, BOMA will contact you and ask if you are willing to serve. It might be for a one time project, or a longer term commitment.
- Short term examples: write an article; photograph attendees at events; greet people at events; help with brainstorming new ideas.
- Longer term examples: serving as resource on event planning or educational program/speaker ideas; editorial advisory group for the newsletter; social media contributor.
3. Answer the Call! Our needs will be year-round, so you could be contacted by a BOMA member at any time. When they do contact you, you will be told about the project, timeframe and asked if you are willing to assist.
