Houston BOMA 2018 Revenue/Property Tax Cap Position

The Revenue/Property Tax Cap, in limiting the amount the City can raise taxes, is a very important check-and-balance tool, and the only stop-gap in place to keep otherwise uncontrolled government growth and spending in check.

With an over 75% increase in property valuations over the past five years1, the Houston Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) supports efforts by the City of Houston to identify creative and alternative means of cost savings, efficiency in operations, and revenue streams. Repeal of the Revenue/Property Tax Cap is short-sighted and will not solve the City of Houston financial challenges.
