BOMA Houston was cited for its aggressive advocacy agenda in support of the association’s mission advancing the interests of the commercial real estate industry. A few of the projects mentioned by the judges were: · When the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) attempted to unionize the city’s janitorial workforce, BOMA Houston mobilized its resources by hiring a law firm and public relations firm and enlisting its members to lessen the union’s impact. · The association was integral in drafting an ordinance impacting commercial properties which would create a notification system for owners when their building plans were accessed, thereby increasing security for the tenancy of the city.
